About Rome
Rome is one of the largest cities in Europe, the political and economic center not only of Italy, but also of the entire European Community. Well, for tourists, it is a collection of a great variety of world famous attractions. The city has been chronicling its history for almost three thousand years. The main sights of the city are the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum with the altars of Saturn and Vulcan, the sanctuary of Vesta, the House of the Vestals, the source of Juturna and the Arch of Septimius Severus, and the tomb of Raphael, as well as the largest structure in the forum area, the Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine.
Other priceless monuments of history: Palatine (the place of origin of Rome as a city), the ruins of the Basilica of Aemilia, Curia, Flavius’ palace, the Forum of Augustus, the Arch of Constantine, the imperial palaces of Augustian, Flavius and Tiberian, the ruins of Trajan’s Forum and Trajan’s Column, the Temple of Romulus, the Thermae of Caracalla, dozens of fragments of ancient walls and religious buildings. The numerous churches of the capital deserve special attention: St. Laurentis, St. Lorenzo-Fuori le Mura, Santa Maria Maggiore and St. Ignazio, the Basilicas of St. John Lateran and St. Paul, the cathedrals of St. John the Baptist and St. Paolo-Fuori le Mura, and the famous Sistine Chapel with paintings by Michelangelo. And, of course, the Vatican.
Tour description
